This is a quintessential image of the Alps. A tiny Germanic village juts out into the lake with a drape of fog hanging over. A faireytale village in the truest sense.
I photographed this scene on a small Greek island in May.Late afternoon sun bounced off these boats in the small Patmos harbor. They seemed to be sitting alone on the calm water waiting patiently for passengers.
A VENETIAN WINTER
I captured the starkness of a winter in Venice with this image. Shot in the early morning at dawn, the gondolas sit empty without their usual merriment.
BLUE DOMES OF SANTORINI, GREECE
I captured this image of Santorini one summer afternoon. The domes seem to dance across the rooftops like little blue hats while the sea sparkles below.
Romantic and colorful Burano, this island is known for intricate lace. It is next to Murano, the island of glass blowers. I was able to capture this image one very bright day when the sun lit up the street vividly.
CASTLE COMBE, ENGLAND
I had just the right light here one afternoon to make this bridge and river resemble a vintage English painting. The subject matter is classical and so is this image This charming bridge was built by the Romans. A castle once sat on a hill above the village as a fortress. The village is located in the Cotswolds, near Stonehenge.
DOBBIACO, BOLZANO, ITALY
Dobbiaco is an Italian village on the Austrian border. Picturesque, it is one of many small hamlets in this area. I captured this image one afternoon in hazy light and it has a beautiful quality of timelessness.
EGUISHEIM ALSACE, FRANCE
Eguishseim dates back to the Middle Ages. It's uniqueness lies in the winding streets which are glorious with colorful flowers. It is the cradle of Alsatian wine making going back to around 720. I caught this image on a early fall afternoon and the light made it look like a wonderful painting.
FIRA TOWN, SANTORINI GREECE
Ah, Fira. This volcanic city is thought to have been created by Thera, a volcano of three million years ago. Thera's fury swept through the Southern Aegean, leaving the legend of Atlantis behind. It is colorful and vivid. I captured this image at night when the wine bars and tavernas are alive with activity.
MORNING LIGHT, HONFLEUR FRANCE
I captured this beautiful image of Honfleur one early morning. Located on the bank of the estuary of the Seine across from Le Havre, it is home to an early school of painters that contributed to the Impressionist movement. And, I think I have captured this flower banked street with a very painterly quality.
